Fashion Week Online reviews VPLOSS at Flying Solo

Four models in VPLOSS looks in front of the Flying Solo wall

Flying Solo, New York

In September, VPLOSS showed at Flying Solo during New York Fashion Week, the runway for independent designers that this season brought together labels from 34 countries. No house behind it, no group, no investor. Just the work, on the same week and the same city as everyone else.

Fashion Week Online covered the show, and Hannah Longman's review named VPLOSS among the independents worth watching.

What they saw

The review reads the label the way it was meant to be read: as clothing that speaks before anyone explains it.

VPLOSS introduces a raw, material-focused vision of fashion, shaped by a designer who sees clothing as both form and communication.

It points straight at the material that carries the collection. Tyvek, a fabric made for protection and meant to be thrown away, is cut, painted and built by hand into rigid, sculptural pieces. Longman calls the result

resilient, imperfect, and unexpectedly sophisticated.

and reads the whole collection as a study in transformation: destruction turned into a language of endurance.

Why it matters

VPLOSS is still at the beginning. A review like this, on a stage shared with designers from 34 countries, is a sign that the idea carries beyond the studio in Germany: that a disposable industrial sheet can hold a silhouette, and a silhouette can hold a story.

The looks were worn with jewelry by SYLVSMIDJA.
